Japan Warmly Welcomes CPFWP

The Chinese People’s Federation for World Peace was launched in Japan on October 19, 2019, at a sumptuous luncheon at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo. The hall was filled with representatives of the Chinese community, Japanese diplomats and scholars with an interest in China, and multicultural Chinese-Japanese families. Heartfelt welcoming remarks were given by Rev. Eiji Tokuno, president of FFWPU Japan and co-sponsor of the event.

Rev. Tokuno expressed the certainty that despite tensions between the two countries, Japanese and Chinese people can work together to promote world peace.

Prof. Thomas Hwang, international chairman of CPFWP, emphasized that the three Asian countries of China, Japan and Korea all share a culture in which family values are deeply rooted. He suggested that these three countries should take the lead in building a new civilization centered on absolute family values in the 21st century.

A special guest was Ms. Soong Mei Chi of the Soong Ching-Ling Foundation. Ms. Soong is a relative of Soong Ching-ling, who married her husband, Dr. Sun Yatsen, in Tokyo in 1915. The famous couple retained long-term close ties with Japan. Ms. Soong expressed an interest in working together with CPFWP in the future.

About 30 members of Chinese-Japanese multicultural families attended. Some of their teenage children were among a group of enthusiastic young people who offered a rousing performance of Chinese songs and modern dance.
