Grand Launch in Hong Kong

On April 13-14, 2018, the Chinese People’s Federation for World Peace held the Inauguration Ceremony for the Hong Kong chapter at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hotel. About 100 guests from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and the United States attended the ceremony. Everyone agreed with the idea that the wisdom and virtues of the Chinese people can contribute to resolving social issues around the world. They agreed to work together to revive the traditional Chinese culture, especially family values, marital values, and contemporary values of filial piety.

Hon. Choy So Yuk
Hong Kong Deputy of the National People’s Congress

Mr. Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, former President of the Legislative Council, attended and delivered a speech, expressing his agreement that the Chinese People’s Federation for World Peace is a good vehicle to link overseas Chinese and work hard for peace in the world. Mr. Sheng Quan, representative of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Ms. Choy So-yuk, representative of the National People’s Congress, also attended the ceremony.

Two of Hong Kong’s top religious representatives also honored us with their attendance: the Venerable Shi Kuan Yun, President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association, and Dr. Tong Yun Kai, President of the Hong Kong Confucian Association.

As part of the two-day event, we also held a seminar on the topic: “Defining Filial Piety in our Modern World: The Practice, Attitude and Social Impact of Filial Piety.” Scholars from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan presented papers from a wide range of perspectives, followed by Q&A sessions with the participants, who included teachers and university students. The seminar provided everyone with food for thought, as well as practical suggestions on how to inspire filial piety in today’s young people.
